couple.jpgNearly two years was spent investigating what Milwaukee residents know and don’t know about long term care.  Written surveys, telephone surveys, focus groups, and public listening sessions were conducted throughout Milwaukee County in 2002 and 2003.  In short, most Milwaukee residents don’t understand long term care.  They don’t understand what it is, how it is funded, where to get it, and why planning ahead is a good idea.  Myths and misconceptions abound.   

Companies in the long term care industry provide regular and ongoing education to consumers, but their messages are not getting through to people.  Only a community-wide, public-private partnership can adequately address this communication gap.  To this end, Connecting Caring Communities has created an innovative consumer awareness campaign about long term care.  The campaign will officially run from May 2006 – January 2008.
